☑️ fact checked and reviewed by Arshita Anand

Has someone occupied your train seat that you had booked for yourself in advance and are not leaving it? Worry not, you don't need to fight with them for the seat.

Ask them politely to leave your seat. If they do not agree to it, send a text message to railway helpline number 139. SEAT <PNR NUMBER> <SEAT NUMBER> OCCUPIED BY UNKNOWN PASSENGER

For example, if your PNR number is 735028103 and seat number is S21 then you have to simply send a text message to 139 like this- SEAT 735028103 S21 OCCUPIED BY UNKNOWN PASSENGER

Alternatively, you can download the RailMadad app or visit its website. Enter your details, describe the issue and submit.

Doing so will send your complaint to the railway administration that will contact your train TTE to solve it within minutes.
